This Buyer’s Guide for pressure washers include features you should focus on when buying and some tips to help you purchase the right product.

Pressure Washer Features and Buying Tips

A power washer's ability to handle specific tasks is determined by the amount of force it can generate. To gauge the amount of power, you need to know how many pounds per square inch of pressure you can generate and how many gallons per minute of water you can pump (GPM). A pressure washer can clean faster and more thoroughly with a higher PSI and GPM, but it can also cost more than lower-rated models. Pressure washers' PSI and GPM ratings can be used to estimate their cleaning power.

Light Duty

These pressure washers are ideal for smaller jobs around the house, with a maximum PSI of 1899 and a flow rate of 1/2 to 2 GPM. Outdoor furniture, grills, and vehicles all benefit from the portability and lightweight of these machines.

Medium Duty

At a flow rate of 1 to 3 GPM, medium-duty pressure washers produce between 1900 and 2788 PSI. It's easy to clean everything from exterior siding and fencing to patios and decks with these more robust and powerful units.

Heavy-Duty and Commercial

2800 PSI at 2 GPM or more is the minimum pressure for heavy-duty pressure washers. Pressure washers for commercial use typically have a maximum pressure of 3100 PSI and a maximum flow rate of 4 GPM. Many large-scale cleaning tasks, such as cleaning driveways and decks, removing graffiti, stripping paint, and washing two-story homes, are made simple by these dependable machines.

Cold and Hot Water Models

Cold-water pressure washers, which can be electric or gas-powered, are the most common for DIY use and are less expensive. You can purchase the one that will suit your needs.

Pressure washer Using Hot Water

While hot-water pressure washers can be more expensive and more difficult to operate, they clean better and faster than their cold-water counterparts, making them excellent for industrial and farm applications. In addition, less detergent is used.

Nozzles for Pressure Washers

Pressure washers are available with either an all-in-one variable spray wand or a set of interchangeable nozzles, both of which allow you to adjust the pressure of the water spray. The following are some of the available settings and nozzles:

  • It's the most powerful and concentrated nozzle setting at 0 degrees (red nozzle).
  • Use a yellow nozzle (15 degrees) for heavy-duty cleanings, such as scrubbing floors.
  • It is recommended to use the green nozzle (25 degrees Celsius) for general cleaning purposes.
  • Vehicles, patio furniture, boats, and other easily damaged surfaces should be cleaned with a 40-degree (white nozzle) solution.
  • When using 65 degrees (black nozzle), you can apply soap and other cleaning agents with low pressure.

If you are not sure what type of pressure washer you should buy, keep the above features and tips in mind.
